Go Noodle!! and a Giveaway

Every now and then, along comes something that changes your classroom. For me last year, this was Go Noodle. I am extremely excited to be sharing the ways I love using Go Noodle in my classroom....and there may even be a swag of Go Noodle goodies you can win!

Why do I think Go Noodle is so great?
Its the perfect way to get little (and not so little) bodies moving and ready for the day! In my Kindergarten classes, I would put this on first thing in the morning to Get Your Body Moving (one of our favourite Koo Koo Kangaroo tracks)

It's the perfect Brain Break!
When your students are transitioning from lesson to lesson, why not give them a break with a Go Noodle song? It might be a great opportunity for a KidzBop song, or time for some Zumba. Go Noodle gives kids a chance to recoup and refocus while having heaps of fun!

There is more to Go Noodle!
Another favourite of mine are the quiet, calming videos that can help your students calm down after break times. One of my fail safe Go Noodle clips for this purpose is titled Flow. It incorporates breathing with positive messages and is a perfect time for students (and teachers) to reflect.

Add your own clips!
With the YouTube feature, you can add your favourite clips to your Go Noodle account so you can continue to help your champ grow. The kids love what happens to their champs as it goes up levels!

FarFaria and a giveaway!

Recently I was approach by the people at FarFaria to a reviewa great new reading app.

What is it? It is a fabulous app that is chock full of stories!

It is divided into many lands. You can pick from places such as Animal Kingdom (full of animal stories), Adventure Island, and Mount Make Believe. You pick the one you are after and a range of different stories are available for you to read.
When you are presented the stories, you can choose to sort them by title, newest or even level, which is fantastic in the classroom :)

After it downloads a story, it gives you 3 options- Auto play, Read to Me and Read myself which is fantastic as students can listen to the story and then read the same text themselves.

FarFaria currently has 600 illustrated children books with 5 new books being added each week!

The app is free to download (and you can access one story per day) OR you can try  monthly memberships to access the stories - only $3.99 per month.
Go to http://www.farfaria.com/ to read more.

The great people at FarFaria have given me a 6 month subscription to GIVE AWAY!!!!

Five for Friday!! A look at my week

Hi all. I have been wanting to blog all week but I just never can find the energy at the moment. But here I am, sharing a snap shot and linking up

1. How sweet is this clip art? I bought a BUNCH of stuff from Kari Bolt during the last sale and made this fun little subtraction pack for little learners. An addition pack will be coming soon too! Click HERE to visit her Facebook page and HERE to find this pack on TPT

2. It was 'i' week this week so we made these headbands in our fine motor/oral language groups. It only took them about 15 minutes to cut, colour and assemble so it was a great activity! I will be posting the full set of these basic alphabet bands in my TPT store over the weekend. Make sure you like my FB page so you will know when they are listed (I might even be keen to give one or two away!)

3. Another activity from our groups this week was shaving cream writing. It was our first time trying this and we will definitely do it again (just not sure how much 'writing' went on as we were too busy giggling about how the shaving cream felt)
4. One last activity from groups - GEOBOARDS. I bought a geo board pack quite a long time ago and thought this was a great time to use it. The shapes were quite challenging for my Kinders but they had lots of fun. Pack from First Grade Blue Skies

5. This one is from last Friday (I can still include it can't I?) We have been trying to use different craft/art techniques each week on Friday Funday - yes it is a thing in our class. These cute "crocodiles" came from the ever talented Mel From the Pond. We painted the bodies the day before, then cut the next day, did our paper accordian folding (which is a lot harder than it looks for a 5 year old lol) and did the teeth. I actually glued the template onto foil so the teeth would look shiny :) Funny story though, when I took the paper home to glue on, I discovered I only had purple foil. Add a googly eye and it was done! Click HERE to go and look at it in Mel's TPT store. And HERE is a blog post from Mel showcasing some of the awesome things you can make from this pack.

You made it to the end! Great! I am going to give away one of my Subtraction Task Cards for Little Learners (seen above). Just leave a comment with something you did in class this week (dont forget your email address). I will pick a random winner on Sunday (Syd time)

AND

The generous Mel of From the Pond has kindly offered to give away one of her Craft Projects - 26 Fold and Create Paper crafts. Go and show her some love on her BLOG or TPT store

Love this girl!

So that is 2 lucky winners! Leave your comment to be entered!

Targeting Maths - Book Giveaway!

I have something else to give away on the blog! Blake Education is a publisher that most Aussie teachers know and have probably used one of their books before. They contacted me to see if I would like to have a look at Targeting Maths.

I really liked the look of this book because it gives you a a range of assessments that could be used from Kinder to Year 2.

It even comes with some blackline posters or anchor charts that can printed and used for reference for your students.

I am definitely going to be using this in the coming weeks as I assess my little ones for reports!

The people at Blake are giving you a chance to win a pack of 3 Lower Primary Targeting Maths books. Just enter the Rafflecopter below. It is open to Australian residents only (sorry!)

Eggy App Giveaway!

By now you would get the feeling that I love the apps from the people that make Reading Eggs. You can also probably tell by this folder on my ipad

Recently they have made a coupld of their fantastic apps FREE for short times, which is awesome.

They contacted me about trying one of their new apps called Add to 20

Here is a view of all the games you can play in the game. As the title suggests it is all to do with numbers under 20, but each game has multiple levels which start off with very small numbers and change difficulty.

I will just give you a snap shot of each game type :)
Balloons - pop the answer balloon. Each time you clear the screen a bird flies down to sit on the perch.

Teddy
Each time you get the right combination, teddy climbs the rope.

Snowboard - I could see how the boys would like this one! Ride at the sum at matches the answer on the screen. But watch out for rocks and trees.

Sheepdog - Get the dog to jump from sheep to sheep on the right answer. The sheep are moving across the screen which makes this one more fun

Memory - Find the right question and answer to match.

Fishing - Find two fish to make the number in the corner of the screen

I really like this app, simply because you could use it to meet a wide range of learners with the different levels! The games are easy to follow and learn.

The Reading Eggs people have given me 3 codes for this app to give away! All you need to do it enter the Rafflecopter below. It will be drawn in 2 days.
