Currently MARCH!!!

It's that time again - yep!!!
Go link up with Farley
Don't you just love her 'stache??

Listening - both boys at my place lurve super heros, so I am listening to some documentary about the first Batman movie???

Loving - my Kinder class have very poor fine motor skills so I am buying lots of fun goodies from Amazon. I am becoming slightly addicted and lots of things have resonable postage to Australia :)

Thinking - Last weekend, I lost all my files from my USB. I did have them back up in another location but not since just after Christmas. So today I went and bought a new portable hard drive and I am in the process of backing up right now. The current time is 105minutes to go (it started at 132min).

Needing - sleep, naps and sleep. This weather is making me tired.

Like - baking - yum!
Love - buying - woo!
Hate - bullying - yuck :(

  1. Ooh - what kind of goodies are you buying on Amazon? I've noticed every year that the fine motor skills of my preps are always a bit questionable so I love anything that helps them develop their skills.

  2. The sleep thing seems to be a recurring trend I've noticed. :o)

I saw some really cool Montessori stuff the other day while surfing the net. I think they have some of the best stuff for little children.

  3. Hey Brooke and Stef, before you spend big bucks on Amazon, have you checked out all the sites that give you fine motor activity options using cheap household objects? e.g. http://www.ot-mom-learning-activities.com/fine-motor-activities.html or http://www.notimeforflashcards.com/2012/08/15-fine-motor-activities-for-kids.html
There is also heaps of stuff on pinterest.
Pegs are a good tool: if you use coloured pegs, you can match the colour of the peg to a colour swatch on the cardboard you are pegging it to. Or write the letters of the alphabet on wooden pegs and get the kids to match/peg them to alphabet written on cardboard, etc.
Also sorting activities - beads, maths manipulatives etc.
Encourage use of the pincer grasp (tip of index finger to tip of thumb)when handling small objects, as this is required for pencil control. Rolling play dough into very small balls (possibly eggs for an Easter basket)is a great idea too, but maybe too messy in a classroom. You could set up a few activities and do rotations.

  4. Hi Brooke,

Australia! That's so cool! When I was in high school my geometry teacher switched homes (and jobs) with a math teacher from Australia for a year. It was really neat to have an Australian teacher for that year!

What kinds of things are you buying on amazon? I'm always looking for cool stuff for my kiddos!

    Have a great weekend!

    1. That sounds cool Alisha! I recently bought some jumbo tweezers and my next purchase is going to be some dice that have plastic pockets on the outside :)

  7. Hi Brooke - thanks for stopping by earlier - now I'm returning the favour!
I concur with your 'wanting' and 'needing' totally. It's finally Spring and I desperately need some sunshine too. It rains 364 days a year in Ireland! (Slight exaggeration!), but it seems to have been wet for months now.
I also need a good sleep too - feel so wiped out these days, but not sleeping well - I think I need a good dose of the joys of Spring!
I hope you get your want and need!
